As a member of the Vermont Association of Wedding Professionals, I agree to:
1. Provide every client with professional, courteous, responsive, and personable service.
2. Conduct business honestly and transparently, with clear communication about services, pricing, policies, and expectations.
3. Honor written contracts, commitments, and agreements made with clients and fellow wedding professionals.
4. Deliver the services promised and promptly communicate when circumstances could affect those commitments.
5. Treat all clients, guests, employees, and fellow wedding professionals with dignity, fairness, and respect.
6. Welcome and serve couples without discrimination and respect the diverse backgrounds, traditions, identities, and celebrations of those getting married in Vermont.
7. Respect client privacy and handle personal, financial, and event information responsibly.
8. Maintain professional standards appropriate to my business, including required licenses, permits, insurance, and other legal obligations.
9. Represent my experience, qualifications, services, awards, reviews, and affiliations accurately.
10. Respect the intellectual property and creative work of other wedding professionals, including photography, written content, designs, and original ideas.
11. Give appropriate credit when sharing the work of photographers, planners, venues, florists, designers, and other professionals.
12. Work cooperatively with other wedding professionals before, during, and after events, recognizing that a successful wedding depends on many businesses working together.
13. Address disagreements with clients or fellow professionals directly, respectfully, and professionally.
14. Avoid knowingly making false, misleading, or disparaging statements about competitors or fellow VAWP members.
15. Offer guidance, referrals, resources, and professional support to fellow wedding professionals when appropriate.
16. Build relationships and partnerships that strengthen Vermont’s wedding community rather than viewing every fellow professional solely as a competitor.
17. Support responsible business practices that protect Vermont’s communities, venues, landscapes, and natural resources.
18. Represent VAWP professionally and uphold standards that strengthen public confidence in the association and its members.
19. Promote Vermont as an exceptional wedding destination while representing its communities, businesses, and wedding experiences accurately.
20. Continue learning, improving, and adapting professional practices to better serve couples and the Vermont wedding community.
