What is your background?
I learned photography as a boy in my father's darkroom and went on to become my school's photographer. I earned a Ph.D. in electrophysics, eventually becoming a business development executive for IBM. In consulting with Eastman Kodak on emerging digital imaging technogies and systems in the early 1990's, I saw the opportunity to rekindle my passion for photography without all the messy chemicals. When digital cameras finally became practical for professional wedding photography, I retired from IBM and started Ayer Photography of Vermont, specializing on wedding photojournalism, portraits, and fully custom collage album design.

How long have you been working in Vermont?
Since 2003

Favorite downtime activity:
Helping my wife with her fully custom scrapbooks, playing with our Bichon Frise, Learning new digital camera or image editing techniques, or researching our family genealogy

What do you enjoy about the Vermont wedding industry?
The chance to work with my wife at something I really love, the chance to meet some of the other great professionals working in Vermont today, the opportunity to meet and be a small part of one of the most important and exciting days in a young couple's life, and let's not forget the dinner and dancing.
